Artist Statement
Using oil or acrylic on canvas, paper or wood, I paint landscapes, cityscapes, and figurative compositions. Sometimes, I express my emotions through abstract paintings. Brightly colored and uplifting, my paintings tell stories that touch the relationship of sentient beings with the environment, and the joys and struggles of women around the world. My unique short, impasto-like brush strokes show the influence of the Impressionism and Post-Impressionism painters. For my figurative compositions, my process is a combination of impressionism and surrealism. I like to say that, sometimes, the ghost of Maestro Salvador Dali visits me while I sleep and my dreams make my compositions come to life. I am stretching the contemporary art movement with a new style that I call Surreal Impressionism. When asked why these themes in particular, I reply that I like my imagination to get lost in the landscapes, the cityscape, or the figurative compositions. |
